These days various eatables that we consume are adulterated.
In the following context we will discuss about some simple hacks that would help us distinguish a pure product from an adulterated one.
The following tests are affiliated to fssai (Food Safety and Standards Authority of India).
Test 1: Water in Milk

- Put a drop of milk on a slanting surface.
- Pure milk stays at the point or flows slowly leaving a white stain behind.
- Adulterated milk will flow immediately without leaving any stain.
Test 2: Detergent in Milk
- Take equal quantities of milk and water.
- Mix both of them thoroughly.
- If the milk adulterated will form dense and thick lather.
- But if the milk is pure then it will form thin layer of foam.
Test 3: Starch (eg. Potato) in Milk and Milk products

- Boil 2-3ml of milk, khoya, paneer, etc. with 5ml of water.
- For other products like ghee or butter, water is not required
- Add a few drops of tincture of iodine (like betadine soln.)
- The solution will turn blue after cooling if the milk is adulterated.
